This
years design features our original shield set on top of a roman V to
symbolize the significance and work accomplished over 5 years with Mike
Duskin's and Riley Stephens's signatures inset speaking to the lasting
legacy these men left imparting the comment to shielding / supporting
their brothers and their families on the front. With the Lambda flag and
quote on the back reminding us to carry forward the message on the
back.
The Mission of the Duskin Stephens Foundation is to support the
families of fallen members of Special Operations Forces and the
educational needs of children of Special Operations Forces
Non-commissioned Officers through community outreach events,
scholarships, interactive educational/recreational programs, and related activities.
The
Duskin and Stephens Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
started
in 2013 by two Active Duty Green Berets from (Fort
Bragg, North Carolina) - . After two of their former teammates, Chief
Warrant Officer 2 Mike Duskin
and SFC Riley Stephens, were killed in Afghanistan in late 2012, the
founders wanted to help the families of their fallen brothers. Together,
they created
and organized the Beef and Beer Benefit in an effort to provide both
financial
and emotional support for the Duskin and Stephens families.
The Beef and Beer Benefit is an event designed to raise money
for the scholarship fund, while also providing a positive environment for the
Duskin and Stephens families to ensure the memories and legacies of Mike and
Riley are not forgotten. The food is donated from local restaurants, beer is donated by the Rail House
Brewery in Aberdeen, NC and desserts are made by the wives of all of Mike and
Riley’s former Special Forces teammates in an effort to promote a sense of
community at the benefit.
With
the overwhelming success of the Beef and Beer Benefit, the Duskin and
Stephens families had the financial assistance they needed. However, the
families,
along with Duskin and Stephens Foudation, wished to continue the legacy
of Mike and Riley.
Thus, the Mike Duskin and Riley Stephens Memorial Scholarship Fund was
established to benefit the children of a Special Operations
Non-Commissioned Officer
(NCO). The scholarship was created at two North Carolina elementary
schools: St.
John Paul II in Whispering Pines and Lee Christian Academy in Sanford.
This, now,
has become the main mission of the Duskin and Stephens Foundation –
providing
quality, private elementary education opportunities for children of
Special Operations NCO’s in the Ft. Bragg area.
